The Speaker

Shrikant J. Chinchalkar is a world-renowned hand therapist at the Hand & Upper Limb Centre, St. Joseph’s Health Centre.

He has over 40 years of clinical experience in treating upper extremity conditions, and over 30 years of teaching experience. He designed and developed Hand Therapy programs at four major teaching centers in Canada. He conducted many instructional courses on upper extremity rehabilitation in over 20 countries in the world and has won many awards for his presentations.

He was awarded the “Dr. Paul Brand Award of Excellence” by ASHT, “Award of Leadership” by CAOT, and the “Award of Excellence” by the Sisters of St. Joseph’s Hospital. He authored five book chapters, has published 26 papers and 15 abstracts in numerous peer-reviewed journals related to Upper Extremity Surgery and Therapy.

The Seminar

This is a free seminar being conducted at the ASHT 38th Annual Meeting in Denver Colorado at 12:15pm.

The wrist joint is a complex articulation of small carpal bones connected by ligaments that form a mobile yet stable link to the hand and forearm. The normal carpal kinematics for precise function is most critical when the carpus has a synchronous motion in all planes. The complex geometry of the carpus and the distal radio-ulnar joint with specific arrangement of the ligaments forms a stable transmission of forces during gripping and rotational activities of the hand. Upon disruption of the ligamentous structure the carpus instability results causing hand weakness associated with pain and stiffness, and finally the degenerative arthritis if the condition not treated appropriately.

Comfort Cool Ulnar BoosterThe presentation highlights normal wrist kinematics, carpal instabilities, sequence of therapeutic intervention, clinical reasoning along with the use of Comfort Cool Ulnar Booster Orthosis for maximizing hand, wrist and forearm function.

The Comfort Cool Ulnar Booster™ is designed specifically for people experiencing ulnar sided wrist pain and midcarpal instability. It is biomechanically correct, and can help this problem by realigning and stabilizing the carpal (wrist) bones while depressing the ulnar styloid. Shrikant J. Chinchalkar will be demonstrating the use, proper fit and benefits of this highly-effective orthosis.

All attendees will receive a free Comfort Cool Ulnar Booster™.
